The following table outlines to steps to undertake for applying for a Partner Migration visa.

7 Ensure that you provide all the information detailed in the checklist/s you are provided and that your application is complete.

8 Lodge your complete application together with the sponsorship form and all the necessary documents at your nearest office of the department within Australia or your nearest Australian mission outside Australia.

You will be required to have the following information in order to fully complete form 47SP, Application for Migration to Australia by a Partner:


•- your full name and current residential and postal address

•- details of any previous marriages, de facto spouse relationships or interdependent relationships you have been in, including your partners' name/s, date/s of birth and start and end dates of the relationship/s • your residential and postal address and telephone numbers for correspondence after arrival in Australia

•- details of any identification numbers you may hold
Examples: National identity cards, social security card or alien registration numbers

•- details of all your family, including your parents, siblings, children and other dependent family members, including deceased family members

•- details of your legal rights and custody of any family members or dependants under 18 years of age included in this application to migrate

•- your partner's full name, date and place / country of birth

•- details of your partner's citizenship or residence status in Australia

• your partner's residential address, country of current residence and telephone numbers/ e-mail address

• your partner's usual occupation

•- details of your relationship with your partner

•- details of your marriage to your partner, if applicable

•- details of any permission to work in Australia provided to you by the department


•- details of any benefits or social services you have been paid or have received from a government agency in Australia

Examples:
Unemployment benefits, public housing benefits, Medicare or free or subsidised education

•- details of any other visa applications you are waiting on currently

•- details of any visas or entry permits you have previously had cancelled or refused

•- details of any immigration detention or other custody you have been in

•- details of all visas you have held or currently hold for travel to Australia

•- passport number for all applicants

•- migration agent details, including Migration Agent Registration Number (MARN) for agents registered in Australia

•- address details for all countries you and all dependants migrating with you have lived in for a cumulative total of 12 months in the last 10 years. You will also need to know the dates you lived in these countries.

Information required to complete sponsorship forms
You will be required to have the following information ready in order to complete form 40SP, Sponsorship for a Partner to Migrate to Australia:

•- your full name and details

•- details of any sponsorships or nominations you have received as a spouse (including de facto), prospective spouse (fiancé(e)) or interdependent partner


•- your current residential address, your address for correspondence and your telephone contact details

• details of your current employment status
•- details of your employment history in the last 2 years


•- details of any social security or other government benefits you have received in the last 2 years

•- details of any current social security benefit or other government payment you are currently receiving

•- address details for all countries you have lived in for a cumulative total of 12 months in the last 10 years. You will also need to know the dates you lived in these countries

•- your partner's full name and date of birth

•- your partner's residential address

•- details of your relationship with your partner

•- details of your marriages to your partner or to any third party

•- details of your previous sponsorship of any spouse (including de facto), prospective spouse (fiancé(e)) or interdependent partner

•- details of all your partner's dependent family members included in your sponsorship

•- details of any person who is assisting you to complete the form

•- migration agent details, including Migration Agent Registration Number (MARN) for agents registered in Australia

•- details of any person you wish to nominate as an authorised person for receiving written communications.

How to apply for partner migration

Before you apply for a visa to Australia, you should make sure that you have read through all parts of the Detailed Information Guide and that you and your sponsor are aware of all the requirements for migration.

Using this facility, you can complete form 47SP(Internet), Application for migration to Australia by a partner and you can get your sponsor to complete form 40SP(Internet), Sponsorship for a partner to migrate to Australia.

Once you and your sponsor have completed the forms on-line, you, your dependants migrating with you, and your sponsor will need to print the forms, sign them, and lodge them at your nearest Australian mission or office of the department in Australia together with
